Joanie is a highly experienced family law attorney with over 30 years of dedicated service, specializing in guiding families through the complexities of legal matters. Raised in rural Idaho, Joanie developed a profound sense of community and a deep appreciation for the importance of family—values that continue to shape and influence her practice today.
Joanie and her husband have raised their seven children in the beautiful Heber Valley, where she has practiced law along both the Wasatch Front and Wasatch Back. Her deep connection to the community and its values strengthens her commitment to helping families navigate difficult times with care and compassion.
Her journey to becoming a trusted advocate for families began with her education at the prestigious J. Reuben Clark School of Law. There, Joanie honed the legal skills and knowledge that would lay the foundation for her distinguished career in family law. While her primary focus is family law, Joanie’s legal expertise spans a wide range of practice areas, including criminal law, personal injury law, bankruptcy, business law, and estate planning. This diverse legal background allows her to approach family law cases with a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected complexities involved, providing her clients with well-rounded counsel and strategic insight.
Throughout her career, Joanie has built a wealth of experience in managing a variety of family law issues, including divorce, child custody, and property division. She is especially passionate about advocating for collaborative solutions, recognizing that these methods often result in healthier, more sustainable outcomes for families. Her approach is centered on promoting cooperation and working together to create resolutions that support long-term peace and the well-being of all family members.
Joanie is also an AFCC (Association of Family and Conciliation Courts) informed attorney, demonstrating her commitment to staying current with the latest best practices and innovations in family law. Her focus on minimizing conflict and fostering cooperation aligns with her belief in the long-term stability and well-being of families, particularly when children are involved.
Understanding that children’s voices are often the most vulnerable in legal proceedings, Joanie is trained as a private Guardian ad Litem. In this capacity, she advocates for the best interests of children, ensuring they are heard and protected during challenging family dynamics.
