Rebecca Haws Dustin is a dedicated family law attorney with more than 12 years of experience, recognized for her strong litigation skills, nuanced understanding of child welfare issues, and unwavering commitment to advocating for families during life’s most challenging transitions. Her background as a social worker prior to entering the legal field uniquely equips her to navigate the intersection of legal, emotional, and practical challenges that families face. Inspired by her own divorce experience and the impact of skilled advocacy, Rebecca entered the legal profession with a deep appreciation for the importance of both competence and compassion in family law.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Brigham Young University, where she graduated magna cum laude, Rebecca continued her education at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. Her dual training enables her to approach cases holistically, pairing strategic legal analysis with trauma-informed, client centered representation. She is known for her thoughtful case strategies, clear communication, and practical, solutions-oriented approach to representation.
Rebecca is a certified Child Welfare Law Specialist and has handled a wide range of complex matters, including high-conflict custody disputes, child abuse and neglect cases, protective orders, parent-time modifications, and divorce actions involving intricate financial, psychological, and relational dynamics. She also serves as a Private Guardian ad Litem, where she advocates for children in contentious domestic cases and ensures their voices and best interests are meaningfully represented in the judicial process.
She is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the National Association of Counsel for Children, the Utah State Bar’s Family and Juvenile Law Sections, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC). Through this involvement, Rebecca stays current on evolving best practices, research, and legal developments affecting families and children.
Rebecca has a long-standing commitment to community service. She has served on the boards of the Children’s Justice Center and the YCC Family Crisis Center and continues to volunteer at the Family Law Clinic and the Rainbow Law Clinic.
Although she moved frequently during her childhood, Rebecca eventually made Davis County home for over two decades, where she raised her four daughters. In 2025, she and her wife, Heather, relocated to Millcreek, where they now enjoy the vibrant community and proximity to the city. Together, they share a large blended family with nine children and three in-law children. Holidays are a lively event in their home—especially Christmas—where creating twelve equally exciting stockings has become a cherished family tradition.
Outside the office, Rebecca can often be found at a concert or live performance, enjoying her love of music and theater. She also spends her time exploring Utah’s mountains, visiting National Parks, renovating her home, and digging into new projects in her garden.
